For Canonic, Pattern is Movement handed over everything about themselves to a man named Scott Solter. He recorded their last record, Stowaway, in 2005 at San Francisco studios Tiny Telephone (John Vanderslice's place) and his own 15th St. Scott has worked as an engineer and producer with the likes of Vanderslice, Spoon, the Mountain Goats, Two Gallants, and Tarentel. He's also got a few records by his own name: The Brief Light (Manifold) and this year's One River (on Tell-All) which we highly recommend. Just last year he also put his stamp on John Vanderslice's Cellar Door with remix album MGM Endings.

Early this year Scott picked up and moved to North Carolina, bringing Pattern Is Movement's Stowaway tapes with him. At his new studio, Baucom Road, with grease, razor, and tape in hand, Scott conjured up something completely new. Running with Pattern Is Movement's insistent rhythms and vocal experimentation, he has created an all-analog album of songs that would make King Tubby and Scientist proud. These songs boom and shake and crackle and hiss and revalidate the art of the remix.

We present to you......Canonic.
